7 Places for Custom Cabinetry in Your Home

Custom cabinetry can make a room feel intentional and add a personal touch to any space. With most people buying pre-made pieces, it’s a bit of a dying art to have bespoke pieces in your home and we love to create them for our clients!

When thinking about custom cabinetry, there are typically a few places that come to mind right away as perfect candidates (like kitchens and bathrooms) but others like bars, mudrooms, and wine cellars are all ideal places to add a custom piece. Let’s look at each of them in more depth.

Tartanware: Souvenirs from Scotland

Personally, I have collected tartanware for many years and my collection continues to grow. It is particularly suited for the holiday season because of the colors and the thick fabric it implies and is a perfect accent to any holiday decorations! Because of my interest in it, we thought it would be fun to do a brief overview of where it comes from, how it has become what it is today and the best ways to incorporate it into your own home!

Red Hot Rooms for the Holidays

My passion for red started at a young age when I first saw former Vogue editor Diana Vreeland’s elegant New York apartment designed by the great decorator, Billy Baldwin. It was always described as the “garden in hell.” To me, it was just heaven. The sofas and chairs were covered in red chintz and the walls were upholstered in red chintz. Beautiful red roses and amaryllis filled every container on every table. She was always the epitome of style. Often photographed dressed in a safari jacket with beautiful ivory bangles and always sitting in her beloved red room.
