Unlike designers who focus exclusively on the design, we provide a full range of renovation and design services to bring our clients’ designs to fruition. We oversee and manage the entire remodeling and decorating process. We have ongoing relationships with a range of licensed contractors and skilled craftsmen who work under our supervision on all our projects. They include cabinetmakers, tile setters, upholsterers, furniture makers, carpenters, electricians, and a drapery workroom.
Among interior designers in Northern Virginia we are nearly unique because virtually all of our cabinets, upholstery, and window treatments are completely custom designed by Kelley and produced to her precise specifications by craftsmen here in the area. You can be assured that our designs will be expertly tailored for your living environment, and you will not find these elements of your design appearing anywhere but in your home.
We offer another service that is unique. We make several trips a year to Europe and throughout the U.S. to search out and purchase antiques and unique pieces of furniture and lighting to meet client’s specific needs.
Whatever the nature and scope of your redesign, we take full responsibility for seeing that the entire project is finished on time and on budget and that all work is of the highest quality. We take the worry out of the process for our clients.
Why Work with a Professional Designer?
The Process from Start to Finish
DEFINE SCOPE + ESTIMATED BUDGET
Defining a scope helps us utilize budgets to the fullest, sets up front expectations, and helps keep the client’s ideas and solutions front and center. We meet with our contractors (stone, flooring, plumbing, drapery, cabinetry, electrical, and others needed for the job). One of the advantages of working with Kelley is that she has a long standing relationship to not only contractors but craftsmen that deliver amazing results in stone, wood, and wall upholstery.
MEASURE AND PLAN
Understanding the beauty of the space, or lack thereof, is very important. We carefully measure your space, capturing the unique requirements for the job. From this we give you the best advice for finishes, flooring, furniture and cabinetry, window treatments and the overall vision for your space.
PERSONAL AND LIFE STYLE DISCOVERY
We want to know how you live, breath and entertain. Space planning (wall placements, feature walls and furniture placements) is a huge component to how we design and also sets your home apart from your neighbors. We use design magazine articles, Pinterest and Houzz to help us discover your style, lifestyle and taste – who you are.
One advantage of working with an established interior designer like Kelley is that she has cabinet makers that can work with her, architects and then you the client to design and install bespoke cabinetry that will be the highlight of your new space. Over her 20+ years as a designer, Kelley has delivered some of the most unique, beautiful and functional cabinets that are fit precisely to the room. Her team of architects and cabinet makers affords her clients the ability to have a truly custom home unlike any others.

From measuring the windows to designing the window treatments to the installation we are truly a one stop shop. The trained artisans in our workroom convert each bolt of fabric into custom made window treatments.
DEFINING THE IMPOSSIBLE
Once we discover your personal style and lifestyle, we work with you to select the materials, fabrics, woods, stone and paint colors that will bring out the most in the cabinetry, flooring, furniture and other key elements of each room. Kelley’s deep experience with the fabric houses all over the world and knowledge of the best furniture sources give you access to a world of design like few others.
A REFINED BUDGET
Once the plans have been set and approved by the client, we understand quantities which helps further refine the budget and helps eliminate unnecessary furniture, finishes and defines overall lighting needs. Preliminary material and fixture selections are quoted to gather a better understanding of the overall budget with actual selections and suggestions. All lead times are reviewed to make sure favorite selections are ordered on time to meet the overall schedule.
QUOTATIONS AND LEAD TIMES ESTABLISHED
Once plans are completed, finish materials, plumbing, lighting, and millwork quotes are finalized, and lead times are confirmed with correct quantities. Our relationship with specific vendors allows a quick turnaround on this process, but items such as counters and millwork (big ticket items) we believe the client should choose the level of craftsmanship they prefer. We have a number of different levels of skilled craftsmen that we work with us on a regular basis and will gather quotes from each of them so you can choose. Lastly, if we are head over heels for a product and know it has a long lead time, we begin ordering at this stage of the process.
We co-create schedules with contractors, facilitate purchases, identify critical path items, and are on-site ensuring design implementation, allowing you peace of mind. Kelley’s clients rely heavily on her oversight of the project to ensure quality, timely and within budget implementation and completion of the project.
THOSE SMALL FINAL TOUCHES
Kelley can provide or help the client select those final touches of art, pillows, and accessories, resulting in a full styling package. This can be included in the original project or purchased. Styling is a huge piece of the final finishing touches.
