Home Spa Retreat – Testimonial

My client has always dreamed of being able to come home and feel like she is stepping into a spa retreat.  She played volleyball in college and now plays in an adult league.  Therefore, it was very important that she has a place to rejuvenate after a long game or practice. It was my pleasure to deliver this spa retreat to her home.

“For years I have dreamt of bathrooms with a calming atmosphere to come home to each night. Kelley Astore Interiors partnered with me every step of the way to make my home oasis come to life. From the relaxing earth tones, heated floors & textured pebbles that rub the bottoms of my tired feet, I couldn’t have imagined being happier with Kelley & her experienced team.”

The first request was that she has a free-standing jetted tub so that she could relax and enjoy a pulsing massage after practice and games. Another wonderful feature of the fabulous tub is it has a heater to keep the water at just the perfect temperature for soothing achy muscles. The spa feel did not stop at just the tub. The shower stall has all the latest and greatest plumbing supplies from Grohe: a rainfall shower head, individual wall jets, and an additional pulsating shower head. We installed pebble flooring on the shower floor for an instant massage to those tired feet! Since my client and her husband are both over 6’ tall, we opted for the custom-made vanity to be installed higher than a normal countertop. And last but not least, of course there is floor heating under this lovely tile!

Kitchen Design

Kitchen Design

Kitchens are one of my favorite spots in the house to renovate because they are the heart of a house.  Pictured above is a kitchen renovation that I did in Great Falls, VA. Custom cabinetry is a key feature in maximizing the storage in a kitchen.  They are customized to fit precisely in the room which doesn’t occur with standard cabinetry; plus, they last longer and retain their value.  For this project, we chose a gorgeous marble to accent the custom kitchen island and a neutral color palette to complement it.  The final touches included all new stainless steel kitchen appliances, hardware, and accent lighting.

Bathroom Renovation & Remodeling

Bathroom Renovation & Remodeling

I am excited to share this bathroom with you because it is the bathroom of MY dreams… welcome to my master bathroom.  When designing my bathroom, I wanted to create a space that felt bright, open, and, most importantly, clean. Therefore, I decided to opt for a simplistic and neutral color scheme, which would also help me create a sense of luxury in my bathroom. To kickstart this color scheme and design, I opted for patterned marble flooring from Marble Systems. Here, the mix of grey and white is nicely complemented by a snow-white border and marble baseboard – giving the space a distinctive, luxury feel. Since I chose statement flooring, I went for simple walls.  I designed my own custom vanity so that I could have the exact storage space that I needed and my shower giving it a rainfall showerhead, a main showerhead, and another handheld unit.  The last must-have for me was a large tub… what’s the use in your dream bathroom without a large tub to relax and enjoy it in?!

Custom Closets

Having a beautifully designed and smartly organized closet is key to stress-free mornings. There is nothing worse than your closet being full of dirty and disorganized laundry when you need to get ready quickly or you have a busy day ahead. You should be able to walk into your closet and know exactly where everything is. That’s why customizing your closet to be organized in a way that makes sense for you is so important!

Built-in Bookcases

Built-in Bookcases

They are the ultimate storage solution, turning storage into beautiful decor – the marriage between beauty and function. Whether you’re interested in a built-in bookcase with a hidden desk, or a case framing a window with a little place to sit, we’ve got you covered!

Industrial Shower Install

The unusual industrial-style shower door might be my favorite feature in this newly remodeled bathroom!  The shower door system included a solid chrome rail at the top with a glass stationary panel on the right and a sliding door on the left.  Additionally, the shower received a recessed shelving unit, seat, and large chrome shower head.

For the shower tile, we chose a medium shade of gray that complimented the flooring which was installed next.  The shower flooring is 1 x 1 white and gray tumbled marble that aids in preventing slipping. This tile flowed well into the bathroom flooring, which is large 12 x 24 tiles of white marble with gray grain.

What are the benefits of a sliding glass shower door?

  • They save space. Instead of having a door that swings out, a sliding door easily tucks behind its corresponding glass panel.  Not only does a sliding glass shower door save space, it makes the bathroom appear larger.
  • No shower curtain needed. Shower curtains are difficult to keep clean because they readily accumulate mold and mildew.  On the contrary, a sliding glass shower door is easy to keep clean because you only have to spray and wipe. Additionally, a sliding glass shower door allows for a very bright shower, whereas one with a shower curtain can be dark if adequate lighting is not in place.
  • No water dripping on the floor.  A sliding glass shower door never hangs over the bathroom floor so you don’t have to worry about your bathroom floor becoming slippery.  Therefore, when you are in the shower and realized that you have forgotten something outside the shower like a razor or soap, you won’t have to worry about opening the door and it dripping on the floor. The shower door water stays in the shower!
  • They can be custom-made. Having a shower door that is custom-made for the space eliminates leaking.
  • They are safer for children. With the easy sliding, the chances of smashed fingers decrease significantly with sliding glass shower doors.  Plus, they are safer for your walls; they can’t swing open swiftly to have the shower door handle slam into and leave a nice dent in your wall.

When considering your next shower or bathroom remodel, I highly suggest a sliding glass shower door for its appearance and convenience.
